Uniquely positioned Bed & Breakfast in Castle Acre on the Peddars Way near Swaffham.
Walkers on the Nar Valley Way will also find that Castle Acre is ideally placed to explore the wonders of rural Norfolk and is blessed with an excellent pub The Ostrich specialising in high quality meals, Greene King ales and a wonderful atmosphere. The village also has a café; a licensed convenience store, a post office and a fish and chip shop will open in mid 2018. The Castle and Cluniac Priory are both a short walk, both are maintained by English Heritage and are not to be missed.
Places such as Brancaster, Thursford, Burnham Market, Holkham and the Royal Sandringham estate are nearby.
Within walking distance is The Stag in West Acre which has an excellent reputation for serving a variety of real ales (also on the Nar Valley Way).
Other attractions include the wondrous North Norfolk coast, nearby Swaffham and the winter delights of the Thursford Christmas Spectacular.
Who Are We ?
Marcon House was built in 1884 for the village doctor and we have lived here for over 20 years and have been in Castle Acre since 1983. It is a five bedroomed property and we offer on e room as an en-suite bed and breakfast (B & B) service and Peddars Way accommodation.
What Do We Offer ?
The room is en-suite ground floor accommodation (private entrance) with the option of a single, twin or double bed with Egyptian cotton sheets; Welcome Tray; sofa for watching the Freesat HD TV; complimentary WiFi; an en-suite shower room with Molton Brown toiletries; breakfast options include full English, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or vegetarian options.
On arrival we will supply fresh cold milk for that all important cuppa with biscuits and we are happy to store bikes. There is also a small fridge in the dining room where guests can store their own supplies or make use of the honesty bar.

Single Occupancy - £60 a night
Double/Twin Occupancy - £80 a night

How Does One Make A Reservation ?
Bookings may be made by telephone on 01760 755673. Rooms are normally available from 15.00 and should be vacated by 11.00. Please note we are currently unable to accept reservations for stays after 31st May 2018
Arriving On Foot ?
Walkers will find us at the top of Bailey Street in Castle Acre (the house name is Marcon House), 100 yards before the striking Baileygate. If you are walking the Peddars Way you will be able to pamper yourself with Molton Brown toiletries, catch up on your e-mails, eat well in the local pubs, slip your weary legs into fresh, crisp Egyptian cotton sheets after watching HD TV on the sofa or armchair in your room. There is the convenience of an inexpensive hot supper on site with an honesty bar and In the morning enjoy a hearty breakfast featuring a local 'Full English' before heading back out on the Peddars Way.
Arriving By Car ?
Castle Acre is four miles outside Swaffham just off the A1065 and is ideally situated to strike out to Norwich, Kings Lynn, Thursford and the North Norfolk coast. Cambridge and Peterborough are both within about an hour's drive. You will find us at the top of Bailey Street in Castle Acre (the
